insect monsters or insectoid aliens 

are usually portrayed as dumb drone insects living in a colony 

controlled by a few intelligent boss insects 

and if insects are observed on planet earth 

then ants are dumb drones controlled by a queen 

and those ants are able to build a big nest where the colony resides 

and termites have a similar system 

and in comparison humans are both individually intelligent 

and collectively intelligent 

and humans build big cities where the colony resides 

and even prehistoric humans were both individually intelligent 

and collectively intelligent 

and those prehistoric humans lived in simple conditions 

as small tribes 

but humans are mammals 

and the earliest ancestors of mammals are rat like creatures 

and those rats were individually dumb and collectively dumb 

compared to humans 

so it becomes obvious 

that if insects would evolve into an intelligent species 

then their evolutionary pathway would be similar 

to how rats evolved into humans 

which makes it obvious that insectoid aliens 

are probably both individualistic and collectivistic like humans 

so that when the insect ancestors of insectoid aliens 

evolved from insects to insectoid aliens 

then those insects got bigger brains 

which made them need more food 

so if they were living in large colonies 

then they needed to live in smaller colonies 

because each individual insect would need more food 

since each individual insect would eat more 

to sustain its bigger brain 

and then a large colony would not be able to get enough food 

and if they were not living in large colonies 

and instead alone or in small groups 

then their bigger brains would not make them start large colonies 

since each individual insect would eat more 

to sustain its bigger brain 

and as those insects with bigger brains 

continued to evolve into a tool using species 

and later a species using an equivalent of agriculture 

then they would be able to farm enough food 

to feed more insects with big brains 

so that they could start bigger colonies such as villages 

and later cities 

so the similar evolutionary pathways 

between insectoid aliens and humans 

become apparent 

even though they are biologically radically different 

since humans are mammalian 

and insectoid aliens are insectoid 

and it can probably be assumed 

that most land living aliens in the universe

had similar evolutionary pathways
