russia has european contries as neighbours in the west 

and asian countries as neighbours in the south 

and russia has been to war with both european countries 

like sweden, france and germany 

and russia has been to war with asian countries like china and japan 

but russia has been allied with usa during world war 2 

which worked for both russia and usa 

since they are not neighbours 

so it's reasonable to assume 

that russia would prefer to buy technology from usa 

instead of from eu or china 

mainly because of geostrategic reasons 

since russia don't want to be dependent on german technology 

or chinese technology 

in case russia ends up in war with either eu or china 

but also from historic lessons 

regarding relations between russia and other countries 

so russia would probably prefer to be friendly with eu 

but not dependent on eu 

and russia would probably prefer to be friendly with china 

but not dependent on china

which could be of value to keep in mind for american companies
