according to media and the internet
a shuriken has four blades
but it would make more sense if it is four spikes
since a spike is more likely to penetrate deeper than a blade
when thrown
especially when hitting a skull or body
it's unpractical to throw a knife in a fight
since it's a fixed distance
that has to be a certain amount of length
for the knife to spin
so that the blade hits the target
and it's different distances for different throwing techniques
but still fixed distances
and even if it's a no spin knife throw
it's still a fixed distance
which is unpractical in a fight
when the target moves closer
or moves farther away
but it probably works to throw a spiked shuriken in a fight
since a shuriken doesn't need to be thrown at a fixed distance
because each of the four spikes are able to hit the target
as the shuriken spins
and can instead be thrown at variable distances
when the target moves closer
or farther away
and if it's a shuriken with spikes instead of blades
then it could be more weight
which probably makes it easier to throw
anyways
it will probably be easier for beginners
to learn to throw spiked shurikens
instead of throwing knives
and spiked shurikens could be feasible in self defence
especially in close quarter situations
