maglev roads

bigger populations will lead to increased traffic congestion 
and to avoid traffic congestion on highways 
two things are needed 
fully autonomous cars 
and significantly increased speed 

fully autonomous cars are needed to avoid mistakes 
that lead to traffic congestion 
and fully autonomous cars are not that far away 

for example: 
if there is a massive traffic queue on an asphalt highway 
with cars driven by humans 
and all those cars are fully autonomous capable 
then those cars could switch over to fully autonomous mode 
and start communicating with each other 
and then all those cars would move together as a unit 
and flow around obstacles such as traffic accidents 
I've been thinking about that scenario 
since I was a child or young teenager 

increased speed is needed 
so that more cars will be able drive on the highway per hour 
but to increase speed on highways 
maglev roads are needed 

if maglev roads were built 
with civilian commercial technologies available today 
then it would probably be segments of technology 
placed near each other under and in the road 

but if room temperature superconducting magnets 
were made from carbon nanotubes 
then the road could be weaved from carbon nanotubes 
which would make it a lot quicker and cheaper to build maglev roads 

but then again 
if room temperature superconducting carbon nanotubes 
were made available to the civilian commercial market 
then that would radically change every industry 

the maglev cars would drive with their wheels on asphalt roads 
and then when a maglev car enters a maglev highway 
then the maglev car would lower a maglev plate 
from the car's undercarriage 
and the maglev plate would start hovering above the maglev road 
while the maglev car's wheels retracts upwards a bit 
and then the maglev car would hover entirely above the maglev road 
while the speed increases to probably around 500 km/h
