putting metal objects in microwave oven causes reactions that seem to be explosions 

could that effect be used to accelerate air from a rocket engine, 
microwaves reacting with metal and air, 
creating reaction that propels air from rocket engine 

could that effect be used to accelerate a projectile from a gun
