the automation conundrum

to many people it's confusing that so many people have work today
when so much previous work has been automated

before a driver drove a horse buggy
but then cars were invented
and then one taxi could transport more passengers per day
than any horse buggy could

so many horse buggy drivers lost their wok
but even more taxi drivers got work driving taxi cars
since faster and cheaper transport increased market demand
so that more people wanted taxi car rides
and more taxi companies were started
and more taxi drivers were hired

and motorized transport changed every economic sector
by increasing efficiency
so that companies in every economic sector
produced better and cheaper products and services
and better products and services enabled populations to grow
so that even more taxi car drivers were hired

so ai and robotics could probably make companies hire fewer workers
and possibly also kick workers
because of increased efficiency

but since ai and robotics will enable companies
to produce better and cheaper products and services
then that will increase market demand for those products and services
so that more companies are started that use ai and robotics
to produce better and cheaper products and services
and then more workers will be hired
because more companies need more workers
since every company needs atleast a few workers

and in the far future
if automation is taken to its logical endpoint
so that almost all work is automated
then companies will still need humans as owners
so that workers will instead be small business owners
that manage their own companies
like farmers previously managed their own farms

automation of work has been going on
since humans discovered fire
and historically automation of work
has always increased quality of life for humans
