if stone is to be used instead of concrete 

to build some buildings 

then the walls would be made of big stone blocks 

and the stone walls would be load bearing 

and steel beams would be the structure carrying each floor 

and the floor would be stone blocks or stone plates

resting on the steel beams 

and steel beams would be the structure carrying the roof 

and the roof would be stone blocks or stone plates 

resting on the steel beams 

some floors in the buildings could have vaulted stone ceilings 

but there would be steel beams above them 

carrying the stone blocks or stone plates 

that become the next floor 

apartment buildings, office buildings and villas 

could be built this way from stone 

these stone buildings would last for centuries 

without any maintenance 

if the structural steel beams are of the right quality 

skyscrapers could replace concrete with stone 

if steel beams are used to carry the stone floors 

and if steel beams are used to stabilize stone pillars 

and if steel beams are used to stabilize

other load bearing structures made of stone 

but the outer walls would have to me made of glass and steel 

to keep the weight down 

granite stone is cheap and plentiful
