loosing direction
since humans started breeding new and better traits into their cattle and pets,
humans most likely started breeding new and better traits into themselves
such as a father wanting his daughter to get pregnant with a strong man and a mother wanting her daughter to get pregnant with a man that could read
and after a few generations of those types of selections,
new traits were desired
a father wanting his daughter to get pregnant with a man that had business sense
and a mother wanting her daughter to breed with a man that could count numbers
and after a few generations of those types of selections,
new traits were desired
and genetic modifications were introduced in the population to enable new types of thinking and understanding and to remove sickness
what are the risks? do cattle feel love, do pets feel love?
maybe ancestors of cattle could see behaviour in which reproductive partner they were more genetically matched with to get healthy offspring
maybe ancestors of pets could smell which reproductive partner were genetically matched with them so that they could get healthy offspring
in humans' desire to acquire new and better traits through breeding and genetic modification, there could be theoretical risks that some basic human behaviour disappears, like love, which would likely have consequences for both individuals and for society
