controlling flow of emotions

watch a comedy or think about something that makes you laugh hard and a lot
so that you burn out those emotions 
and afterwards you will be as emotionally cold as you need to be 

watch a horror movie or think about something scary that scares you, 
so that you burn out those emotions 
and afterwards that could make you more social with people

preventing your emotions from flowing could make you inefficient, 
but choosing when your emotions flow could make you more efficient

this is not holding back your emotions, it's using your emotions when you want to use them
