media talks a lot about china getting ahead in the semiconductor business, but that's just semiconductor design, 
but civilian commercial semiconductor production is lagging severly in china, atleast when it comes to cpu production, from what I gather after a few searches on the internet 

what china needs to fix these issues is their own photolitography systems companies, way more more advanced than currently available in the civilian commercial domestic chinese market 

there are a few photolitography systems companies, but most if not all are all western companies, that is companies based in usa friendly countries

or else 
china's industry will be torn apart when usa and it's allies automates industry and possibly thereof brings industry back home
