a combat vehicle is not able to move in thick forest 

so a combat vehicle moves in more open fields  

and that makes combat vehicle exposed 

and therefore a combat vehicle needs heavy armor 

an infantry squad is able to move in thick forest 

so that infantry squad is not exposed 

and therefore infantry squad only needs weak armor 

a robot dog would be able to carry heavy weapons 

such as missiles that match the fire power of a combat vehicle 

and since a robot dog would be able to move in difficult terrain 

such as thick forest 

then robot dog isn't exposed 

so robot dog doesn't need heavy armor 

so robot dogs would have the advantage of heavy firepower 

like a combat vehicle 

and have the advantage of infantry soldiers 

that are able to move and hide in difficult terrain 

a group of robot dogs would have more firepower than a combat vehicle 

first robot dog could have multi purpose missiles 

second robot dog could have anti missile lasers 

third robot dog could have a machine gun with sniper capability 

fourth robot dog could have grenade launcher 

robot dogs would be able to move faster than infantry soldiers 

and move in difficult terrain inaccessible to combat vehicles 

and robot dogs would be able to sleep in terrain indefinetely 

saving their energy 

until awakened by stimuli 

what's needed for robot dogs to function is not better ai 

but instead batteries with better energy density than gasoline
