during ancient times 
righteous humans probably murdered a lot of guilty humans 
but it was not have enough to only murder guilty humans 
if righteous humans would have murdered all unrighteous humans 
and would have continued to do that for every generation for thousands of years 
then many people of today would not have had their lives destroyed 

problem was that many people did not know who were righteous 
and who were not righteous 
for example: 
some humans were kidnapped by pirates and sold as slaves 
possibly some of those humans were righteous 
but maybe that was a scheme to save rigtheous humans from a rotting city
