open specifications for defence companies

militaries in different countries in a defense alliance usually have a standard rifle caliber 

this could be taken many steps further 

to make weapons research and development easier, faster and cheaper 

to make weapons production easier, faster and cheaper 

and to make logistics easier, faster and cheaper  

every vehicle of similar function and size 

could have same specifications of non-sensitive components 

such as chassis, wheels, tires, cannons, parts of machine guns, 

missile launchers and so on 

whereas sensitives stuff like electronics would have secret specifications 

that would only be shared among approved companies and agencies 

but those sensitive electronics could fit in standard size compartments in vehicles 

and specifications of those compartment would be shared among defence companies 

which would enable companies in country A could produce chassis 

and companies in country B could produce wheels 

and companies in country C could produce missile lauchers 

which would create a resiliance in production within defence alliance 

if defence companies' production is disrupted in countries D, E and F

all non-sensitive specifications would be shared among all defence companies within all countries of defence alliance 

development and production of next generation of fighter jets 

could become easier, faster and cheaper if those products shared all 

non-sensitive specifications 

such as length and width of aircraft, size of wheels and tires, size of chair 

and possibly somewhat sensitive stuff like size of wings 

and size of weapons bay 

while sensitive stuff like electronics would only be shared among approved companies and agencies
