multiple phase engine

an electric plasma jet engine that breathes in air 

and uses electricity or radio waves or microwaves to energize air into plasma 

and thereby would not need any rotating turbine which would enable that electric plasma jet engine to also function as a hypersonic engine 

when electric plasma jet engine converts to hypersonic engine then fuel injection from onboard fuel might be required and/or increased energy from electricity or radiowaves or microwaves 

then engine could convert into rocket engine by closing air intakes and using onboard fuel to propel vehicle 

if all these functions are implemented into the same engine of a vehicle 

then it would be a single stage to orbit (SSTO) vehicle
