reasons for optimism

my guess is that in the near future, 

humans could me made smarter, faster, stronger and more talented with cybernetic upgrades 

so the logical focus could be if humans tried to get healthy children, 

if possible by genetically matching parents so that their children don't inherit genetic disorders from their parents 

later those children could upgrade themselves with cybernetics to become better at what they want to become better at
