according to media, there are lots of electric vtol airplane company startups, but batteries are too inefficient for their weight, 
that is, too heavy batteries with too little power 

possibly use electric engines built together with every rotor 
and instead of battery in airplane body, use liquid fuel storage connected with fuel engine that converts fuel into electricity in airplane body and feeds that electricity to electric motors built together with rotors 
and sell airplane to market 

when more efficient batteries are available, take in airplane on upgrade and change fuel storage fuel engine combo to only batteries in airplane body

and when even more efficient batteries are available take in airplane on upgrade and change old inefficient batteries to new more efficient batteries in airplane body

it will be costly with these upgrades, but it's a quick way to reach market 
so that company doesn't stay in startup mode until it dies from no business and no more investment funding
