if human women would be more selective when choosing a man to get pregnant with 

that does not necessarily mean that all women breed with a few men while the rest of the men only have sex with single mothers without making them pregnant 

it would mean that women got pregnant with those men that would be an effective genetical match, 

example: if both woman and man have genetics that would lead to severe heart disease, then better if woman get pregnant with man that don't have genetic traits that could lead to heart disease
