millions of people reads news media articles, why even bother writing a few blog posts that less then a few hundred people will read
if you tell your friends, family, classmates / collegues your opinion, that's probably a bit less or a bit more people than those that would read your blog
there is a real risk of course and that is not being able to get a job if you write controversial opinions on a blog, but if you try to avoid what are considered hot topics in big media, that's a start
if you write about controversial stuff that are considered taboo, then you're probably fucked, so then it will probably be impossible to get a job
